Brief
Commissioned by a physics laboratory at La Sapienza University in Rome, this project aimed to create a logo for their presentations that would maintain a serious, professional tone while being visually engaging — especially for young students. The challenge was to break away from the conventional, often uninspiring academic logos and instead develop a design that would capture the innovative nature of their research on nanotubes.
solution
The logo was inspired by a unique perspective: a front-facing view into a carbon nanotube’s structure. This approach, combined with the natural hexagonal pattern, created a visually striking yet meaningful design. The rest of the identity followed a sleek anthracite and white colour scheme, reinforcing a modern, sophisticated aesthetic that reflects the cutting-edge nature of Titan Lab’s research. The result is a distinctive, memorable visual identity that bridges scientific rigour with contemporary design.
